Fitted Kitchens Buying Guide

Deciding on the perfect kitchen is an exciting but daunting task. Do you choose the safe option and stick to a timeless neutral design to appeal to future homeowners? Or do you choose a design that reflects your own personal style? We understand there’s a lot to consider to make the right choice.

Here at Hammonds, we’re experts in creating bespoke kitchens, beautifully designed with stunning finishes. Our handmade fitted kitchens feature solid doors and functional islands, ensuring they aren’t just stylish but practical and long-lasting too. With a range of options available, we’ve created this handy guide to help you find your dream kitchen.

When choosing the style consider the architecture of your home and the interior design of surrounding rooms. A period home will suit a traditional country kitchen, whilst a modern home would be well suited to a contemporary design. The colour scheme of adjoining rooms should also influence the style. The kitchen is the centre of the home so following a similar theme will ensure it’s the perfect fit. Check out our different styles below:

Modern Kitchens

If you love simple, clean lines and sleek painted finishes, our range of contemporary kitchens has you written all over it. Form meets function with minimalist angular units finished with luxury chrome handles and taps and a choice of work surfaces. Our ultra-modern kitchens are ideal for both large and small spaces, and with a range of integrated appliances, you can ensure your space remains clean and clutter free.

Traditional Kitchens

For a more elegant feel, full of character, opt for a traditional style kitchen. Our beautifully designed classic kitchens are available in a range of finishes. Combine hand-painted kitchen cabinets with solid wood or granite worktops, and add the perfect finishing touch with ornate door handles. This style adds a glamorous touch to any home.

Shaker Kitchens

Our shaker kitchens are a versatile choice, bringing together a traditional design with a modern finish. Bespoke, angular kitchen doors with inset flat centre panels are made from the finest materials in a range of painted finishes. For a contemporary take on this classic design, choose a neutral grey or cream shaker kitchen. This is a simplistic, elegant look that won’t go out of style. Colour can completely change the look and feel of your kitchen. Whether you want to create a feeling of light and space or a cosy sense of warmth, there are so many ways to use colour to reflect your sense of style. The obvious choice is to opt for neutrals, both for versatility and the wide appeal to future home buyers, but your new kitchen needn’t be boring.

All our new ranges are available in an edited colour palette of 13 painted finishes. Choose from a selection of calming neutrals, elegant blues, and cool greys. For a dramatic splash of colour add our mulberry painted finish to a feature cabinet or kitchen island. There’s no need to restrict yourself to one colour option. Try combining complementing tones or contrasting colours for a look that’s unique to you.
