We've joined forces with two guests bloggers from APDO for National Organisation Week. National Organisation Week is all about clearing clutter to make the most out of your space. Jules Langford from Cluttered to Cleared and Arianna Steigman from Clutterbug are sharing their expertise with tips to help maintain a calming home.
Are mornings in your kitchen a cross between Brands Hatch and feeding time at the zoo as your family races around trying to grab cereal from the back of the cupboard, toast from across the room, and a cuppa from the opposite corner? It’s not a great start to the day and can leave you wanting to go back to bed before you even leave the house.
Wish there was a better way? There is! And it’s easy.
Set up your own Breakfast Station. No fancy equipment necessary, just some dedicated clever cupboard space over a clear easy to clean worktop.
Store the cereals, bread, and spreads with bowls, mugs, and cutlery in the cupboard and pop the kettle and toaster on the countertop below.
Bonus tip: Store your spreads in a wipe-clean plastic box – portable and hygienic!
Come morning whip out the food items and crockery and voila! Your very own one-stop breakfast buffet. This child-friendly solution means kids can cater for themselves - with no more cries of “Muu-uum, where’s the Choccie Crispies?”
Your reward - a little more peace for you to drink that essential first cuppa and slowly become human
And when they’ve eaten their last crumb of toast, train them to put the dishes in the sink or dishwasher, so you're not left clearing up the chaos.
OK, so it won’t help you find that missing PE kit, but at least you won’t be hungry while you’re looking for it.
Best of all, you don’t need a big kitchen to do this. It works even in a small space.
If you’re planning a new kitchen, discuss your ideas and storage needs with a Hammonds designer. Together you'll come up with some great ideas to maximise your space, and make your mornings even more toast-tastic!
