Amanda Cottingham tasked our designers with transforming her teenage daughter’s bedroom into a stylish bedroom suitable for a young adult as opposed to a little girl which would also reduce clutter.
Range: | Finish: Dark Pine
Amanda’s daughter had grown out of pinks and wanted a room with a more sophisticated yet still youthful and fun feel. Amanda said: “The bedroom was incredibly cluttered, as my daughter grows up she has more and more clothes and study books but there was no place to store it so it was always on show.”
Hammonds therefore designed a room that provided a dedicated space for her daughter to study and sleek modern storage space for her clothes and possessions.
Hammonds designer said: “To utilise the limited space a made-to-measure wardrobe was designed which created stylish compact storage, including drawers within the bed. We also designed and installed a compact workspace with several drawers so Amanda’s daughter now has her own neat study area. The Vigo range seemed a natural choice for this bedroom because of its versatility due to sleek, modern finishes in the furniture. Installing mirrors on the wardrobe doors means that light reflects from the windows beautifully, cleverly creating the illusion of more space. The carpet was replaced with sleek laminate wood flooring to create a more spacious and grown up feel.
“Transforming the colours of this bedroom was key to creating a room that would carry a teenage girl through to young adulthood, yet remain modern and stylish. Taking away the pinks and whites and replacing them with fresh blues and teal greens created a contrast with the neutral furniture.”
Both Amanda and her daughter were thrilled with the new bedroom.
“I couldn’t believe how much the room had transformed. Now it has a much more grown up feel and we both love the contrasting blues and greens with the light furniture. It’s comforting to know my daughter now has her own space to study in and with so much storage space there isn’t an odd sock on the floor in sight!”
