Why did you choose Hammonds?

We chose Hammonds because we wanted a smart, tailored solution that would really work for us as a couple. After purchasing our first home in London, we quickly realised storage was going to be a big challenge for us. Hammonds stood out to us for their beautiful bespoke fitted furniture and clever designs that could be completely customised around our space and preferences. 

 

What was the space like before you had the transformation?

Before the transformation, the space just didn't work for us. The wardrobes that were there originally were way too small, mismatched, and completely impractical. They didn't make good use of the space at all, so everything felt cluttered and not aesthetically pleasing. We saw great potential in the rooms but we needed some guidance on how to make our vision happen. It was a bit disheartening because we'd just bought our lovely home, but the storage made it hard to actually enjoy the rooms. Along with the wardrobes in our bedroom we also needed a solution for our understairs space which was very cluttered and a total eyesore! 

 

How would you describe your interior style?

Our style is traditional with touches of contemporary. We both love the elegance and timeless feel of traditional design, but we also wanted the home to be functional and not feel stuffy- so adding a few modern details keeps everything fresh and personal. We're very proud that our home dates back to 1890 and still have some beautiful original features, so we're doing our best to honour them through our design choices. 

Is organisation important to you? If so, why?

Definitely. For both of us, organisation makes such a different to how relaxed we feel at home. We feel like when things don't have a proper place, it creates stress- and in Central London, where space is limited, it feels even more important. Having a system in place especially for our clothes means we can come home at the end of the day and actually enjoy our space rather than constantly tidying up. Same goes for when we need to get dress in the morning, no more rummaging through packed drawers to find what to wear! 

 

What is the best thing about your new space?

The best thing is how seamless and intentional it all feels now. The furniture looks beautiful, but more than that, it feels like it was designed especially for us. Andrea and I love that our bedroom feels calm, welcoming, and so beautiful! It quickly became one of my favourite ones in the house. Same goes for the understairs space, before I couldn't even look at it while walking past and now it is an organisational dream. Everything has its place- from winter jackets and shoes to those little bits you never quite know where to store. 

 

How has your furniture had a positive impact on your life?

It's honestly transformed the way we live. The difference in organisation has taken away the daily stress of clutter, which has been such a relief. We feel calmer, the space feels bigger, and it finally feels like the bedroom we envisioned. Most importantly, it reflects both of our styles, so we feel proud every time we walk into the room.
