An elegant Harpsden bedroom

Mrs Robinson had a vision in mind to maximise the space available by using fitted furniture, creating extra storage for her daughter’s bedroom. She also highlighted the need for two separate dressing tables, one for cosmetics and getting ready, and another for studying.

The Design

Hammonds designer Phil Kay explained to us how the classic Harpsden suited the overall style of the customer’s home. The neutral coloured walls have a hint of rose which brought out the warmth of the painted stone fitted furniture, allowing the light to travel through the room. The unmistakable ‘shaker-style’ doors kept the overall look and feel of the bedroom traditional.

Expert designer Phil recommend a fitted bookcase alongside the wardrobe in the alcove, which maximised the area to its full potential. With 32 handles to choose from the choice was endless for Mrs Robinson. Phil advised that with such a large room and long run of fitted wardrobe doors, a subtle handle would give an elegant overall finish to the bedroom. For these beautiful after photos of the finished bedroom, Hammonds stylist Sarah Slimm used metallic materials to dress the room including scatter cushions and throws.

Metallic soft furnishings are on trend for spring/summer 2017 and work perfectly with a neutral backdrop. This versatile palette allows you to adjust the style and colour of soft furnishings as and when you choose, according to the season and current trends.

The new fitted bedroom furniture matched the brief perfectly, maximising the space for additional storage and surface space but keeping the room stylish and elegant.
